Use the results, but check them

UnitChart is built to be accurate and is tested against known reference values. It is still software written by people, running in a browser we do not control, on input we cannot see. Treat every result as a well-informed starting point rather than an authority.

Before you rely on a result for anything that matters — money owed to someone, a legal or tax position, a medical decision, a machined part, a navigational fix — check it against a second source.

Specific limits of this site

Conversion factors are exact where the unit has an exact legal definition, and are otherwise taken from the SI brochure. Results are shown to 10 significant digits, which is more precision than most measurements justify — a figure being printed to ten digits does not make the measurement behind it that accurate.

Months and years have no fixed length. This site uses the mean Gregorian year of 365.2425 days. Calendar arithmetic between two specific dates will give a different answer, and should.

Digital storage uses the binary convention (1 KB = 1024 bytes) because that is what operating systems report, while data transfer rates use decimal SI units because that is how they are advertised. If you are comparing a drive’s advertised size to what your computer reports, that difference is the reason.

Currency is deliberately not offered. A static page cannot hold an exchange rate that stays honest for more than a few minutes.
